After 29 hours of local time, after several hours of debate, the European Parliament plenary meeting voted 621 votes, 49 votes and 13 abstentions. Later, the members rose to sing the chorus "friendship forever" to commemorate this special moment. Next, the European Council will formally ratify the agreement on 30, so as to complete all the legal procedures approved by the European Union to cancel the European Agreement. According to the plan, the UK will leave the EU in January 31st and then enter a 11 month transitional period, ending in December 31st this year. In the meantime, relations between the EU and the UK remain unchanged, and the two sides will start negotiations on a comprehensive trade agreement.

In October 2019, the European Union and the British Johnson administration reached a "de EU" agreement, which mainly included the cancellation of a "backup arrangement" designed to ensure that there would be no "hard boundary" in Northern Ireland and Ireland.

In January 22, 2020, the British House of Lords passed the "off Europe" agreement, which marked the completion of all the legal preparations before the "break Europe".

On January 24th, President Michel of the European Council and President Leyen of the European Commission signed an agreement on Britain's departure from the European Union to further advance the separation process of Europe and Britain.

In January 30th, the EU council intends to vote on the agreement with the "effective majority" mechanism, so as to complete the European Union's approval of the "de EU" agreement.

According to the arrangement, the United Kingdom will depart from Europe at 11 pm local time on January 31st, and then enter the transition period (to be concluded in December 31, 2020), temporarily maintaining the status quo, so as to reach an agreement with the European Union on the comprehensive trade relations. However, after Johnson won the British election in December 2019, he joined the "no EU" transition period which could not be extended. According to this, Europe and Britain must complete the trade negotiations within 11 months. Otherwise, Britain will face the risk of "hard to break Europe" after the transition period.
